Alaska Airlines Chooses Urban Airship for Mobile Wallet and Push Messaging

PORTLAND, Ore., – May 30, 2013 – Urban Airship, the global leader in mobile solutions to build relationships with connected consumers, today detailed how it is working with Alaska Airlines to better serve its mobile customers and offer a more convenient travel experience. The upgraded Alaska Airlines iOS app available today will use Urban Airship’s PassTools solution to create and dynamically update Apple Passbook boarding passes. From the Alaska Airlines app or mobile website, travelers can now save their Alaska Airlines boarding pass to Passbook, which will automatically appear on their iOS device home screens on arrival at the airport. Any changes to seat assignments, gates and departure times are automatically updated on the displayed pass through PassTools’ API, making customers’ journeys easier, stress-free and more enjoyable.

In addition to Passbook, both Alaska Airlines’ iOS and Android apps will leverage Urban Airship push messaging to deliver real-time flight alerts and check-in reminders to customers.
